BIO

Fatima Ezzahra Khilad is a visual artist and muralist, a graduate of the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Casablanca in 2019. Her practice explores the concept of memory, seeking to understand how fragments of the past transform and persist into the present. She delves into the blurred contours of her childhood memories, deeply rooted in moments shared with her grandparents, who are almost mythical figures in her imagination. One of the enigmas of her creative universe materializes through a mysterious object: the Safi vase. This artifact seems to embody an evanescent innocence and an almost forgotten purity, traces of emotions that, though slipping away with time, continue to whisper in the shadows of her mind.

In her pictorial creations, Tima navigates the subtle boundary between childhood and adulthood, capturing dreamlike visions of women lost in thought. These feminine silhouettes, imbued with an indecipherable and timeless aura, appear to engage in a silent quest for meaning, an inner journey bathed in vibrant colors and a wandering essence. Each composition is a poetic and poignant ode, expressing the beauty and nostalgia of precious memories.

Tima has developed her career in street art since 2020, participating in festivals and artist residencies in Morocco, the United States, and Canada. She says, "I started with a small piece of paper, then a large canvas, a small wall, and finally a very large wall. I am always in search of experimenting with other surfaces, as it is important for me to reach a point where I express these memories in the same way I perceive them. Maybe it will never happen, but I try." She adds, "The vase, in a way, evokes my story, my memory, and even myself."

Through her art, Tima invites the viewer to dive into this labyrinthine quest for memory, encouraging a profound introspection on the persistence of reminiscences and their subtle influence on our perception of the world.
